Frequently Asked Questions

Where do tours start from?
All Tours meet beside Fireman Statue at corner of Gordon St and Hope St (outside Central Station)

Are bookings always required?
We need advance booking in order to guarantee that a guide is available and the tour will go ahead. However, if we receive a late request to join a tour already going ahead (and there is space available) we will do our best to accommodate you.

Are there minimum or maximum numbers for the tours?
Generally, no. We will take out just one person if he/she is comfortable with the arrangement. Likewise, there is no maximum number within reason, but we may look to split the guests into two groups for safety and manageability if the numbers justify this.
Bookings for Private Tours are normally restricted to 6 persons maximum

What about minimum ages?
All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The tours are unsuitable for children under the age of 5.

Can you accommodate guests with disabilities?
The tours last for around 2 hours with a fair bit of walking involved, so persons with mobility issues may find the prospect a bit of a challenge. However, the City Historical Tour has no steps or hills to negociate so please speak to us beforehand and we will do our utmost to help you join us. We can adapt the route of the City Historical Tour and Dark Side Tour to assist wheelchair users.

Do you go out in bad weather?
Inclement weather and Scotland go hand in hand so the walks will always go ahead. Warm, sunny days quickly become cold, wet and windy ones (and vice versa) so please ensure you are prepared for this. Suitable footwear is strongly advised.

Will you conduct bespoke tours for corporate groups and private functions?
We will be happy to consider any specific requirements. Please write or call us to discuss what you have in mind.

What if I wish to complain about any aspect of the tour?
If you feel your tour was not as described or you are otherwise unhappy with any part of the service provided please contact us in writing as soon as possible describing in detail the nature of your grievance. Be assured that all complaints are fully investigated and we will respond to your complaint timeously and fairly. Should it be apparent that we have not met the standards which you would be reasonably entitled to expect your ticket cost will be refunded.

What if I wish to cancel my booking, change to another or later tour, or turn up late?
You will receive a full refund (less any online booking fee that may have been applied) if you cancel up to 24 hours before start of your tour. If you cancel within 24 hours of the start time then 50% of each ticket cost will be retained to cover guide costs. If you change to a later tour within 24 hours of start time we will reschedule your tour without penalty but will retain the full cost of your tour if you do not attend the rescheduled tour. Should you turn up after the tour has left we will retain the full cost of your tickets but offer you a free reschedule.

Are there any additional charges for attractions, entry fees etc during the tour?
No. The booking cost is fully inclusive.

Am I expected to tip the guide?
If your guide has made your day a happy one then the matter of gratuity is entirely at your discretion.
